Meagan’s story is an incredibly common one. She had her first baby and was surprised to find that despite being healthy and active before and throughout pregnancy, recovery wasn’t going as she expected. When she came to see us in our pelvic floor PT clinic here in Austin, TX, she was incredibly frustrated at the care she’d received and worried that she’d never feel like herself again.
But fortunately, the physical challenges associated with postpartum recovery that surprise so many of our patients are challenges we see in our clinic every day. We were so honored she decided to trust us with her care and so thrilled to see how far her hard work took her once she had the right direction. Read on to hear Meagan’s story.
Meagan’s story:
I started working with Becky and Lady Bird PT at 6 months postpartum with my first daughter, when I was (if I’m honest,) desperate to find someone to help me feel like myself again. I learned I had bladder prolapse at my 6-week OB checkup, and I went to the first physical therapist I could find. Unfortunately, I ignored my gut that something wasn’t right with her (big mistake) and had an awful experience.
Finding Lady Bird PT changed everything for me.
From the moment I started working with Becky, I felt seen, safe, and supported. I wasn’t just another patient — Becky and the entire office were invested in me finding my way back to myself.
As a group fitness instructor, personal trainer, and lover of movement, having prolapse caused me to lose so much trust in myself and my body. I was scared to do basic movements, carry my daughter, go for walks. Becky not only worked with me to regain my physical strength, learn to move and breathe properly, and understand the ins and outs of what I was experiencing in my pelvic floor, but she also held space for me to rebuild trust in my body — and in myself.
She was my biggest cheerleader in a time I needed it most.
I’m now almost 2 years postpartum with my second daughter — a daughter I wouldn’t have had if it weren’t for Becky and Lady Bird PT helping me gain the physical and mental strength I needed to walk through life with prolapse.
I feel stronger and more connected to my body and pelvic floor than ever before. I am forever changed by my experience working with Becky and her entire team, and forever grateful.
If you’re here, just beginning your journey, know this: you’re in the right place. There is hope, there is healing, and you don’t have to do it alone.
