“I'm so fortunate to have worked with Lady Bird PT during pregnancy and postpartum! Rebecca is extremely skilled and knowledgable, and is a fantastic question-asker, listener, and collaborator. During both pregnancy and postpartum, she did an excellent job sleuthing out the causes of my pain and providing me with individualized, effective solutions. Drawing on a sound understanding of my body and my athletic goals, she encouraged me while also helping me set realistic expectations. I'm now that person who encourages all her pregnant friends to do pelvic floor PT during pregnancy and postpartum with Lady Bird PT. “
Pregnancy Stories

“I started having pubic symphysis pain at 15 weeks pregnant and I was so worried it was going to just keep getting worse. I showed up to Lady Bird struggling to get in and out of bed and put on my own socks. My PT was Jessica and she taught modified ways to move so I could get out of bed and get dressed without pain, and after 5 visits I was back to my morning walks and Peloton rides. Pregnancy is stressful enough and I’m so grateful I had someone to help guide me through this pain and help keep me active. I also worked with Jessica postpartum to make sure I recovered and prepared for my next pregnancy! She was so kind and knowledgable. Jessica always made me feel heard and taken care of. Plus their whole team is awesome. You can tell they really love what they do.”

“So happy I found Lady Bird PT! I'm just 12 weeks pregnant and would highly recommend all pregnant women at any stage check out pelvic floor PT, especially Lady Bird PT! Becky helped me learn how to prevent and fix my early ab separation and gave me the tools to continue to work out, and even increase my core workouts safely. She also removed so much of my anxiety about what is safe and what is not while pregnant. Dr. Google can cause so much anxiety and there are so many "rules" in pregnancy, it was so good to hear that every body is different and to listen to your body from a professional.”

“I had a virtual visit and it was WONDERFUL. The PTs at this practice clearly practice evidence-based medicine and have excellent bedside manner. I was surprised at how much I could get out of virtual visits with a physical therapist- I went into the appointment feeling frustrated by previous providers that I saw for pregnancy support and wasn't sure this would be helpful...and left these appointments feeling *relief* that someone was actually going to listen to me and provide me with realistic exercises. I learned about what I could do to support my body through pregnancy and birth and feel so empowered! Highly recommend and wish I lived remotely close so I could do in person visits!”

“The guidance my PT at Lady Bird PT provided allowed me to stay strong and active as my body changed throughout pregnancy. There’s so much stuff out there about what you shouldn’t do, my PT taught me what I COULD do and kept me running up until the week I gave birth! My PT also taught me how to use body positioning during labor to help my pelvic floor relax and support a vaginal birth. Even as birth is wildly unpredictable, those things gave me confidence that I'd done what I could to facilitate a smoother labor--which in turn meant I'd done as much as possible to set myself up for an easier recovery. Post-baby, my PT’s guidance helped me to gradually and safely return to the activities I love, and just 6 months postpartum I’m back to running and biking at the same levels I was pre-pregnancy!”

“I had the absolute pleasure of working with Allie during my pregnancy. This was my first baby, and I had a lot of questions about birth and how to best support my rapidly-changing body. Allie was so informative without being preachy or judgmental- I felt so safe asking her anything, knowing I'd be met with empathy, patience and humor (she's delightfully funny!) At a time in my life when I frequently felt vulnerable and tender, Allie's demeanor meant the world to me, and reminded me to see all the joy in the process, too. She helped me deeply trust my body and to face into the dance between surrender and strength required during birth. Allie is one of a kind, and I will continue to highly recommend her to anyone looking for supportive, joyful birth education and support.”

“I cannot recommend Lady Bird PT enough. My PT was Shannon and she was amazing. I saw Shannon SI joint pain during pregnancy. Before I came in it was so bad that it kept me from playing tennis and walking which were my mental health outlets. Shannon was super patient, knowledgeable, kind and professional. She gave me things to start working on day 1 and after a few sessions, I could walk a couple miles again. Shannon helped me continue doing what kept me sane throughout pregnancy. I truly can’t thank her enough for helping me.”

“I saw Rebecca for a few sessions during pregnancy and after delivery. She was SO helpful and played a pivotal role in my mental and physical preparation for an unmedicated birth. She has also been unbelievably helpful in my recovery, helping me to slowly ramp up physical activity so I can feel a bit more like myself pre-baby. I'm now 8 week PP and am so happy with the progress I've made, thanks to her advice and help throughout. I can't recommend Rebecca and the team at Lady Bird PT enough, especially if you're a first time mom looking for some guidance during pregnancy and post-birth!”

“When I was 23 weeks pregnant I sneezed and some pee squirted out and I panicked. I knew this could happen but it never happened with my first and I really didn’t want to pee my pants for the rest of my life. I came in so freaked out to PT. Rebecca was my PT and she was amazing. She talked to me about why people leak during pregnancy, did a really thorough evaluation and taught me what I can start doing to make my leakage better right away and how we can work on the root cause of my peeing my pants so it doesn’t just get worse as pregnancy went on. We saw each other every few weeks throughout the rest of my pregnancy and she gave me exercises to work on between visits at home. By the time my baby arrived, my leakage was like 95% better! I’m only 2 weeks postpartum now but plan on working with Rebecca starting next week to help me recover!”

“I was 36 weeks pregnant when I learned pelvic floor PT was a thing that could help you prepare for birth. My OB, doula and massage therapist all recommended Lady Bird PT so I called them in a panic. They got me in the same week for a birth prep appointment with my PT. I had no idea how the pelvic floor can affect birth and even though I only had time for two sessions before birth it was so helpful!! I thought about what I learned in my PT visit the entire time I was pushing my baby out and I didn’t tear at all!. My PT taught me how to relax my pelvic floor and how to push. It turned out I was squeezing my pelvic floor every time I thought I was bearing down. My PT taught me that that’s common but also how to correct it and gave me exercises so I could practice relaxing those muscles until my baby arrived. Working with Lady Bird PT was a game changer.”

“I was a year postpartum and having terrible tailbone pain, particularly with high impact movement, urinary incontinence with jumping jacks and jumping rope and pain with sex. I knew I didn’t have to live with these and finally decided to do something about it. After just 3 sessions of pelvic floor PT at Lady Bird PT, I had way last tailbone pain and leakage with exercise and sex was so much better. Now I’m postpartum with my second and none of my symptoms have returned! I credit that to what I learned at Lady Bird PT. I can’t tell you what a difference this has made to my happiness… and my sex life.”
Postpartum Stories

“Honestly cannot believe pelvic floor therapy is not standard postpartum care. I worked with Lady Bird PT and they were amazing. I could’ve done all the kegels in the world and my postpartum challenges would not be solved - kegels were making it worse. My PT addressed my pelvic floor and rib issues but it went beyond that - She addressed how it all related to the rest of my body, gave me specific treatment and exercises to get me back to running, talked me through my new mom stresses, and listened to my concerns around my breastfeeding journey. On top of it all, she was just a wonderful person to be around. Through my treatment I interacted with a lot of the Lady Bird PT team and every interaction was just so pleasant. Thank you all for creating such a safe and welcoming environment. Highly recommend. Also follow them in Instagram for some great tips!”

“I loved working with Lady Bird PT and Rebecca. I saw Rebecca for pain during pregnancy, for birth preparation, and after birth for check ins. Pelvic floor PT is obviously an intimate experience - I was always informed, consent was always asked for, and I was comfortable. Sessions were comprehensive, relaxed and never rushed. She also took all my concerns seriously and personally guided me through exercises. Her guidance for birth preparation was particularly helpful. If I had questions between sessions, she was available to provide clarification, even recorded and sent me a video demonstrating how to modify an exercise. The administrative staff members are warm and helpful. The whole experience was excellent.”

“I worked with Rebecca several YEARS after having my last baby. I thought working on incontinence and improving pelvic floor strength were not possible this far postpartum. Thankfully I was wrong. Rebecca's bedside manner and her knowledge were invaluable for my recovery. She explained every step of our visits and exams, and always asked for consent before touching or assessing. Her detailed notes made it easy for me to continue exercises to work on strength between visits, and even after regular visits. I fully credit her for giving me the ability to run, jump, and cough without fear of an outfit change. I highly recommend her and the team at Lady Bird to anyone - regardless of where they are postpartum - for pelvic floor recovery.”

“There were more life changes after having my 2nd baby than I could have ever anticipated and as a result my physical health was not prioritized. More than a year postpartum my incontinence (with laughing, coughing, sneezing) was worsening so I decided to try Lady Bird PT. 5 stars are not enough to express the gratitude I have for Lady Bird! I was in complete denial how much my incontinence, back pain, and crippling monthly cycles (only since my 2nd C-section) were permeating my daily life until they were addressed and resolved.”

“How is everyone not going straight to pelvic floor PT after having a baby?! I felt like my body was WRECKED after having my son. I showed up to my first appointment with Shannon with urinary incontinence, tailbone pain, pubic symphysis pain and sex sucked. Shannon was awesome. She helped me understand how all of my symptoms were connected which helped me a lot and then did a super detailed exam. By the time I left my first appointment I felt like I understood what was wrong with me and what we could do to fix it. 3 months later, I feel so much better. Picking up my kids is easier, I’m not peeing my pants everyday and I actually enjoy having sex again. Thank you, Shannon!”

“As soon as I started walking around more around 2-3 weeks postpartum I could tell something didn’t quite feel right. I went to my OBgyn and felt brushed aside and was told everything looked normal, but I felt like my vagina was falling out. My OB casually mentioned prolapse when I was walking out the door. My PIP group leader recommended Lady Bird PT and I scheduled an appointment with Jessica. By the time I got there I was convinced I would need surgery. Jessica helped me understand how common prolapse is and how treatable it is without surgery. She taught me ways to manage the pressure I was feeling throughout the day and gave me a plan of attack to get me feeling better. I’m not going to lie, it was a long road, but she was with me every step of the way game planning what we could do to make things better. I still don’t love running down hill, but Jessica has helped me get back to running, biking and taking care of my kids without being scared of injuring myself. I feel stronger now then I did pre-pregnancy. I’m really, really grateful for her.”

“I was 7 months postpartum when I felt like I finally had my head above water and had the time to address the fact that I peed my pants every time I cough or sneezed and still had pubic bone pain when I walked too fast. I saw Liz and she was easy to talk to and so funny. She put me at ease and reminded me that it wasn’t too late for all of this to get better, which was one of my biggest concerns since I waited so long. After a month of working with Liz, I barely noticed my leakage anymore, even when I went on a jog! I’ve been to PT before but visits at Lady Bird PT feel different. Even the front office staff makes me feel seen and heard. If I have another baby, I’m coming back here.”
★★★★★
“I assumed recovering from a c-section would be easier than a vaginal birth but boy was I wrong. 4 months after my c-section, my scar was still so sensitive that wearing pants was a no-go and I had so much pain when my husband and I tried to have sex that we’d stopped even trying. I showed up to my first PT visit really skeptical that anything could help but my PT was amazing. She explained why scar sensitivity is a thing and how my c-section could actually be the reason why sex was hurting me. After just 2 weeks of doing the homework she assigned me, my scar pain was like 75% better and after a month of visits, sex felt so much better, too. Now I’m 6 months out from my c-section and I don’t have any pain. Lady Bird PT is the best.”

“I showed up to PT with back and hip pain that had hung around for 2 years after my last baby was born. After my first 2 sessions, I feel compelled to share with any and every woman how incredibly impacted my experience with pelvic floor PT has been. I feel connected to my body in a way I haven’t in years and my pain is improving every single week just by learning to reconnect with my muscles. PT makes me feel empowered to help myself and I can’t praise Lady Bird enough for their kindness and knowledge.”
Pelvic Pain Stories

“I came to Lady bird after my OB recommended it for helping ease the pain I was feeling with sex. Jessica worked with me over the course of 2 months and the improvement has been incredible. She made me feel so comfortable and really helped me remove any tension around my pelvic floor. She made a great plan for me to work on removing tension on my own and followed up with me after every apt with detailed instructions. I highly recommend working with Jessica and going to Ladybird. The environment is very calming and eased my nerves instantly when I came for my first appointment.””

“I’m so grateful my OB referred me to Lady Bird Physical Therapy after my hysterectomy. I saw Dr. Rebecca about 9 weeks post surgery. I was really struggling with core weakness and abdominal pain was terrified to do daily tasks and even more terrified to start working out again. She put together a plan comprised of manual therapy and therapeutic exercises to help me get back to my level of activity pre surgery. She followed up with me via email after every appointment with a detailed summary of the weekly therapeutic exercises. She is extremely knowledgeable in this field and is really easy to talk to. I’m beyond happy I am feeling better, but I will miss my appointments with her and talking about all the latest shows on tv. 20/10 Highly recommend Dr. Rebecca at Lady Bird Physical Therapy. Thank you again for all your help during my recovery process.”

“I love Lady Bird PT!! I have been to other pelvic floor physical therapy clinics but this is by far my favorite PT experience. I came to PT having pubic symphysis pain and hip pain. Shannon was so incredibly knowledgeable and encouraging. She was extremely thorough when it comes to providing up to date education, answering any and all questions, and making me feel as comfortable as possible. I tried massage therapy, chiropractic, pain meds, airrosti for my pain.. nothing worked like this. I’ve already recommended this gem to so many friends.”

“My pelvic floor physical therapist at Lady Bird helped me recover from the lasting hip pain I still had 8 months after the birth of my daughter. I could not be more grateful to the gentle support she offered and knowledge she has around childbirth, pelvic / women’s health and physical therapy. With steady at home exercises combined with in office manual therapy like cupping and dry needling I’m pain free and strong again. My goal was to be able to get back to pre- baby workouts like running and hiit and I’m there again. My only regret is that I wish I had know about her while I was pregnant / that I had gone to her sooner for prevention and pain relief. Will definitely seek out their support during my next pregnancy.”

“Dr. Shannon Russell is a phenomenal PT. She was recommended to me as one of the best PTs in Austin. I came to see her after a knee injury that had started to cause hip pain and pain in my pelvis. She was excellent at assessing and developing a treatment plan that was specific to my goals while dealing with my questions and stubbornness (haha). Shannon went above and beyond with treatment by educating me on healthier/safer fitness movements and daily functions to prevent further injury. Any patient is lucky to have her as their doctor. She’s friendly, kind, and passionate about giving the best care.”

“Sex has been painful for me since my husband and I got married. I honestly assumed that was normal until I found Lady Bird PT on instagram and started reading about pain with sex as a common condition they treat. When I started PT with Liz, I could barely insert a tampon without pain. I usually opted for pads. By the time we were done seeing each other 8 weeks later, my husband and I could have sex that felt good! It has done wonders for our marriage. Liz was nonjudgemental, kind and has a great sense of humor that she used to put me at ease. She listened to my concerns and I always felt like we moved at my pace. Working with Lady Bird PT and Liz was life changing.”

“I came in at 38 weeks pregnant experiencing a ton of SI pain. My PT gave me some excellent pointers on how to perform basic movements, such as getting out of bed and standing up from a chair, to minimize the strain on my back. She also gave me some "homework" to improve my abdominal strength and prepare for labor. It was such a relief - literally and physically - when I felt her advice working. I feel like my brain has control over my abs again. After one week, the pain in my SI joint has been reduced by about 90% for the last three days!! I can’t wait to work with them postpartum.”

“I developed bladder pain after a UTI when I was 23. It just never went away. By the time I found the pelvic floor physical therapists at Lady Bird, I had tried pelvic floor PT at three other clinics. Nothing seemed to help and I was losing hope. I was waking up 3-5 times a night to pee and I felt like I couldn’t drive anywhere further than 20 minutes away because if I had to pee it hurt so badly to hold it. I saw my PT for a 4th opinion and I was blown away by her knowledge. After just 3 months of getting care at Lady Bird, I was only waking up 2 times per night and I felt comfortable going on a road trip to Big Bend. I know this will be a long journey because I’ve been in pain for a long time, but I feel so supported and cared for by the team at Lady Bird. I’m so grateful I found them and only wish I found them first.”

“I broke my tailbone during labor and it made recovery a royal b*&tch. For 4 months after childbirth, I couldn’t sit without a donut pillow under my tailbone, even after the bone healed. I couldn’t workout and it made nursing my baby miserable. I scheduled an appointment at Lady Bird having no idea what they could do for tailbone pain, and I left that day with so much pain relief. Jessica was my PT and she helped me understand how the bone break was no longer the problem but the muscles around the bone were perpetuating my pain. During my visits she would use dry needling, cupping and manual therapy to calm my pain down and teach me ways I could work on it on my own at home. She was such a lifesaver.”
